Beta draft — pending legal review

Terms of Service — DDRO (working title — swap on naming decision)

DRAFT — Cowork, 12 Jul 2026. Not yet published. Review by a qualified lawyer before public launch; this draft is informed-layman quality, written for the beta/friends phase and an eventual small public beta.

1. What this is

DDRO ("the Game", "we", "us") is a browser-based tactical RPG currently in beta. By creating an account or playing, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Game.

2. Beta status — the honest clause

The Game is under active development. We may change, rebalance, reset, or remove features, characters, items, progress, ratings, or seasonal rewards at any time, with or without notice. Progress wipes are possible during beta. We'll try to announce disruptive changes in our community channels first, but we make no promise of continuity.

3. Your account

  • You need an account (via our sign-in provider) to play. Keep your credentials secure; you're responsible for activity on your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher).
  • One person may operate multiple champions but accounts are personal — don't share, sell, or transfer them.

4. Fair play

You agree not to: exploit bugs for advantage (report them instead — we're grateful and occasionally generous), automate play (bots/scripts), attack or overload our infrastructure, harass other players, or reverse-engineer the service beyond what applicable law allows. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, at our judgment, especially where the async PvP ladder's integrity is at stake.

5. Virtual items, currency, and purchases

Battle Points, items, packs, materials, gems, titles, ratings, and any other in-game things have no real-world value, aren't redeemable, and may be altered or removed in balancing.

Real-money purchases. The Game includes a store. It is currently closed — no real-money purchases can be made yet. When it opens, the following applies, and our separate Purchase & Refund Policy governs the details:

  • What we sell — and what we never sell. The store offers time and identity only: timed stamina boosters, extra champion slots, quality-of-life unlocks, cosmetics, and voluntary tips. Battle Points, items, packs, gems, and materials are never sold — they are earned by playing.
  • What a purchase is. A purchase grants a personal, non-transferable license to a digital entitlement inside the Game — not property, not currency, and not redeemable or exchangeable for money. Timed items (e.g., boosters) expire by design; the expiry is the product, not a defect.
  • Prices and taxes. Prices are shown at checkout and processed by our payment provider (Stripe). Applicable taxes (e.g., VAT/IVA) are shown or included at checkout. Purchases may be available only in certain countries.
  • Delivery and refunds. Delivery is immediate and automatic upon payment. Because of that, purchases are generally non-refundable once delivered, except where the consumer law of your country provides otherwise. If you are in the EU/EEA: by completing a purchase you expressly request immediate delivery and acknowledge that you thereby lose your 14-day right of withdrawal — we ask for this consent at checkout.
  • If something goes wrong (you paid and received nothing), contact us — every purchase leaves a verifiable trail and we can restore or refund it.
  • Minors. You must be an adult in your jurisdiction, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, to make purchases.
  • Beta clause 2 still applies to the Game at large, but we will not remove a paid entitlement you hold without compensating or refunding it.

6. Your content

Champion names and any text you enter must not be offensive, infringing, or impersonating. We may rename or remove content that breaks this rule. You keep whatever rights you have in your content; you give us the license needed to display it in the Game (e.g., your champion appearing in another player's ladder or replay — that's the whole point of async PvP).

Uploaded images (custom avatars). If you upload an avatar image:

  • You must own the rights to it (or have permission). Don't upload images of other people without their consent, and never anything offensive, sexual, violent, hateful, or illegal. Moderators review every upload before any other player can see it, and we may reject, remove, or revert an image at any time, at our judgment. Repeated rejections disable uploading for your account.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process (resize/re-encode), and display the approved image inside the Game wherever your account appears. The license ends when the image is removed or your account is deleted, except as needed for moderation records.
  • Takedown: if an avatar infringes your rights (or shows you without consent), report it in-game ("Report avatar") or write to [CONTACT EMAIL] — we review reports and remove infringing images.

7. Our content

The Game — code, design, names (Tharûm, Sylphar, Aeshtar and friends), art, and text — is ours or licensed to us. Beta access gives you a personal, non-transferable license to play, nothing more.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings (see the Privacy Policy for what deletion does). We can suspend or terminate accounts for rule-breaking or shut down the beta entirely (see clause 2).

9. Warranties and liability

The Game is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost progress, lost data, downtime, or any indirect damages arising from your use of a free beta game. Where law grants you rights that can't be waived, those rights stand.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in-game or in community channels. Continuing to play after changes take effect means you accept them.

11. Contact and governing law

Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL]. Governing law and venue: Mexico (operator's country of residence and fiscal domicile — Stripe entity is Mexican; decided 13 Jul 2026). Consumers keep any non-waivable protections of their own country (e.g., PROFECO in Mexico, EU consumer law in the EU).
